Mobile Suit Gundam’s “Fly! Gundam” Gets An Otamatone Cover From moshibass

If you thought the classic Mobile Suit Gundam opening could not get any more fun, moshibass has something to say about that.

The iconic opening theme “Fly! Gundam” has been given a seriously fun Otamatone treatment, with moshibass arranging and performing the song entirely on Regular Otamatones. The result is surprisingly catchy and somehow feels right at home with the wonderfully weird sound of the Otamatone.

And the timing could not be better. The new Otamatone Gundam collection is now available through Hamee, featuring Gundam designs on the quirky musical instrument that has become a favorite among collectors and music fans.

Seeing Gundam paired with the Otamatone is already hilarious enough, but hearing “Fly! Gundam” performed this way takes it to another level. The familiar melody is still instantly recognizable, but the Otamatone gives it a completely different personality.

For Gundam fans, it is also a pretty fun reminder of just how recognizable the original series theme has become. You can take one of Gundam's most famous songs and turn it into an Otamatone performance, and somehow it still works.

Honestly, I did not have Otamatone Gundam covers of classic Universal Century songs on my bingo card, but I am very glad we got here.

And now I kind of want to hear the entire Mobile Suit Gundam soundtrack done this way.
