Strike Gundam Joins the Ukiyo-e Gunpla Collection With a Special Japanese-Inspired Package
The Strike Gundam is getting its own spot in Bandai's ukiyo-e package collection.
The ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Strike Gundam [Ukiyo-e Package Ver.] will be released on August 29, 2026, featuring a special limited-edition package inspired by traditional Japanese woodblock prints. The release also includes a new sheet of Japanese-style stickers, giving one of the most recognizable mobile suits from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED a distinctly different presentation.
The Strike Gundam first appeared in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED as the prototype mobile suit piloted by Kira Yamato. Its adaptable design allowed it to use different Striker Packs for combat, with the standard Aile Striker-equipped configuration becoming the version most fans immediately recognize.
For this release, however, the focus is not on a new Striker Pack or a redesigned version of the mobile suit. Instead, it is the packaging that gets the special treatment.
Ukiyo-e is a traditional Japanese art style that became famous during the Edo period through colorful woodblock prints. With bold outlines, striking compositions, and scenes ranging from landscapes to actors and everyday life, ukiyo-e remains one of Japan's most recognizable forms of art.
The Strike Gundam now joins the RX-78-2 Gundam and Wing Gundam in receiving its own ukiyo-e-inspired package, pairing a major Gundam design from the 2000s with an art style that dates back centuries.
Inside the box is the familiar ENTRY GRADE 1/144 Strike Gundam, designed for easy assembly while still offering impressive color separation and articulation. The kit can reproduce much of its iconic appearance straight from the runners without requiring paint.
The clever parts division also handles one small but neat detail around the Strike Gundam's camera eye. Its black outline is represented through the shadows created by the gap between the parts rather than relying entirely on paint or stickers.
The ENTRY GRADE design keeps things beginner-friendly with clearly organized runners and touch gates that allow many parts to be removed by hand without nippers. Despite the kit's straightforward construction, the arms, torso, and legs offer enough movement for dynamic poses.
A Beam Rifle, Shield, and the new Japanese-style sticker sheet are included.
At 1,430 yen, this special package edition offers Strike Gundam fans another way to add the iconic Gundam SEED mobile suit to their collection. And with the RX-78-2, Strike Gundam, and Wing Gundam all receiving matching ukiyo-e treatment, the boxes themselves might end up being just as tempting to collect as the Gunpla inside.
