BANDAI SPIRITS Expands GunPla Production Network With New Osaka Factory

BANDAI SPIRITS is expanding its plastic model production network with the upcoming Bandai Hobby Center Osaka in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture.

Announced on September 16, 2026, the new facility will be BANDAI SPIRITS' first plastic model production factory in western Japan. Operations are scheduled to begin in November 2026.

Located inside Mitsui Fudosan Logistics Park Sakai, Bandai Hobby Center Osaka will have approximately 3,360.85 square meters of floor space and seven multi-color injection molding machines.

For GunPla fans, the new facility is an interesting development as BANDAI SPIRITS works to strengthen its production system while taking advantage of Osaka's transportation network and access to western Japan's export ports. The Osaka facility will operate alongside the company's existing production facilities in Shizuoka.

Shizuoka Remains A Major GunPla Production Hub

BANDAI SPIRITS has produced GunPla at the Bandai Hobby Center in Shizuoka since the facility was completed in 2006. The site handles planning, development and production for a wide range of plastic model products, including the Gundam series.

The Shizuoka facility is also known for its custom four-color injection molding machines, which can mold four colors and four different materials in a single mold.

BANDAI SPIRITS expanded its Shizuoka operations again in 2025 with the opening of BHCPDII, the BANDAI HOBBY CENTER PLAMO DESIGN INDUSTRIAL INSTITUTE.

The adjacent facility focuses on plastic model planning and development, while a museum also opened at the site in 2025.

Osaka Joins BANDAI SPIRITS' GunPla Production Network

With Bandai Hobby Center Osaka, BANDAI SPIRITS will have another major production facility supporting its plastic model business.

The new factory is scheduled to begin operations in November 2026, adding a new production base in western Japan as BANDAI SPIRITS continues to expand its GunPla manufacturing network.

For GunPla fans, the biggest question will be how this expanded production network affects the availability and supply of future kits as Osaka joins Shizuoka in supporting BANDAI SPIRITS' plastic model production.
