GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT Demo Puts Players In Gundam Helix’s Cockpit At TGS 2026

Tokyo Game Show 2026 is now underway at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, and Gundam fans have a chance to get behind the controls of the Gundam Helix in GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT.

The new Gundam action game is featured at the BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment booth, with a special playable demo designed around the cockpit of the Gundam Helix. The public portion of Tokyo Game Show 2026 begins September 19.

Step Into The Gundam Helix Cockpit

The special demo setup puts the Gundam Helix front and center, with a massive display showing the upper body of the mobile suit behind the station.

Players climb onto an elevated deck designed to resemble a maintenance platform inside a mobile suit hangar before entering the cockpit-style demo area.

The setup ties directly into the game's opening moments. After selecting a mission, protagonist Rex boards the Gundam Helix, receives his mission briefing inside the cockpit and launches from the battleship's catapult before heading into combat.

It is a pretty fitting way to start a Gundam game, especially when the demo is built around the idea of actually sitting inside the Gundam Helix.

GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT Focuses On Close-Range Combat

Once the sortie begins, GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT puts the focus on fast-paced close-quarters combat.

Players can combine weak attacks, strong attacks, tactical skills and weapon-specific actions during battles. Some attacks also allow the Gundam Helix to move while attacking, opening up more options for evasive maneuvers and aerial-style combos.

The demo also features the OVER-RISE system. Filling the gauge allows players to activate OVER-RISE, significantly boosting the mobile suit's performance while unlocking powerful special attacks.

During OVER-RISE, enemy attacks are automatically avoided, allowing players to keep attacking and chain together powerful moves.

Three Weapon Setups Available In The Demo

The Tokyo Game Show demo features three different weapon presets: Assault Sword Assembly, Whip Sword Assembly and Sword Lance Assembly.

Each setup changes the Gundam Helix's attacks, combos and skills, giving players a quick look at the game's customization system.

The differences between the three weapons should also give players plenty to experiment with as they figure out which combat style suits them best.

GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT is clearly putting a lot of attention on close-range action, with weapon selection playing a major role in how the Gundam Helix moves and attacks.

RG Project And GunPla Also On Display

The GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT booth isn't just about the game. GunPla connected to the game's Collector's Edition and the RG Project are also on display at Tokyo Game Show 2026.

For Gundam fans heading to Makuhari Messe this weekend, the booth offers a first hands-on look at GUNDAM ROGUE ORBIT, along with a close-up look at the Gundam Helix and related GunPla.

Tokyo Game Show 2026 is open to the public from September 19 through September 21.
