HGAW Gundam Ashtaron Joins the HG GunPla Lineup in November 2026
Another After War Gundam X favorite is joining the modern HG GunPla lineup.
The HGAW 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron is officially coming in November 2026, bringing Olba Frost's massive mobile suit back with a completely new HG release.
Priced at 3,960 yen, the kit focuses heavily on the Gundam Ashtaron's signature gimmicks, especially those enormous Atomic Scissors.
The Atomic Scissors can be deployed, stored and moved without requiring part swapping, giving builders plenty of options for recreating the Ashtaron's distinctive close-combat attacks. The huge claws also contain built-in beam cannons, because apparently giant claws weren't enough.
The kit can also transform into its Mobile Armor mode through partial parts replacement, recreating the Trans System seen in Mobile Suit Gundam X. Despite its bulky appearance, the Ashtaron was surprisingly fast, especially in Mobile Armor mode.
That transformation also allows it to function as a support platform for the NRX-0013 Gundam Virsago, giving the Frost brothers another way to work together on the battlefield.
The included Beam Spear gets some attention too, with the weapon capable of converting into a crossbow configuration. The kit also includes a beam saber, interchangeable hand parts, joint parts, foil stickers and effect parts.
The NRX-0015 Gundam Ashtaron was originally developed by the Government Reconstruction Committee based on the GB-9700 Gundam Belphagor. Unlike some other Gundam-type mobile suits, it lacked compatibility with the Flash System, so its design instead focused heavily on close-range combat and overwhelming firepower.
And honestly, that makes the Ashtaron a perfect fit for the HG lineup. The giant Atomic Scissors alone give it a look that is impossible to confuse with anything else from Gundam X.
With the Gundam Leopard also joining the HGAW lineup in 2026, After War Gundam X fans are getting quite the year.
