HGAW Gundam Leopard Brings Serious Firepower to the HG GunPla Lineup
The Gundam Leopard is finally getting its turn in the modern HG GunPla lineup, and this one is bringing enough firepower to make sure nobody forgets it.
The HGAW 1/144 Gundam Leopard is scheduled for release in August 2026, arriving as part of the celebration surrounding the 30th anniversary of After War Gundam X.
Priced at 2,420 yen, the new kit recreates the heavy-firepower Gundam with a range of weapons and gimmicks that should make it a pretty fun addition to the HG lineup.
One of the biggest features is the collection of opening and closing missile hatches across the mobile suit. Builders can open up the various compartments to display the Leopard in its fully armed configuration.
And this Gundam is armed to the teeth.
The loadout includes a right-shoulder missile rack, forearm grenade launchers, chest Gatling guns, head vulcans, head cannons, large leg-mounted missiles and a beam knife stored in the right leg.
Then there is the Leopard's signature weapon, the inner arm Gatling, mounted on its backpack. An optional left-leg missile pod is also included, while the aquatic configuration can swap the Gatling for an inner arm torpedo launcher.
Basically, if you were looking for a Gundam that believes the answer to every problem is "add another weapon," the Gundam Leopard has you covered.
Unlike several other United Nations Earth Gundams, the Leopard cannot fly. Instead, it uses rollers built into its feet for high-speed ground movement. It can also be equipped with Snow Dashers for cold environments or an S-1 Unit for underwater operations.
The Gundam Leopard was one of the first Gundam-type mobile suits produced by the United Nations Earth Forces and was designed specifically around overwhelming firepower. When operated by a Newtype, it could also use the Flash System to control the FT-9600 GT-Bits, giving it even more firepower to throw into the fight.
With the 30th anniversary of After War Gundam X arriving in 2026, the Leopard's return to the HG lineup is especially fitting.
And considering how many weapons are packed onto this thing, clearing some shelf space might be a good idea.
