HGAW Gundam Virsago Brings the Frost Brothers’ Iconic Mobile Suits to GunPla
The Frost brothers are getting their moment in the modern HG GunPla lineup.
Following the reveal of the HGAW 1/144 Gundam Ashtaron, Bandai Spirits has now unveiled the HGAW 1/144 Gundam Virsago, bringing Shagia Frost's intimidating mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam X into a new High Grade kit.
The Gundam Virsago is scheduled for release in October 2026 for 3,190 yen.
One of the biggest highlights is the Virsago's signature Strike Claw extension gimmick. The long mechanical arms can extend outward, allowing builders to recreate some of the mobile suit's most recognizable attack poses from the anime.
The abdomen also features the deployment mechanism for the devastating Mega Sonic Cannon. When opened up, the gimmick recreates the Virsago's distinctive firing configuration and gives the kit an especially menacing look.
The kit also includes the connecting parts for the optional Strike Shooters, allowing the two weapons to be displayed together. A beam saber, interchangeable hand parts and foil stickers round out the accessories.
The NRX-0013 Gundam Virsago was developed by the Government Reconstruction Committee as a mobile suit focused on both long-range destruction and aggressive close combat. Its Mega Sonic Cannon could unleash powerful concentrated beams, while the extendable Strike Claws were equipped with their own beam cannons.
And then there is one of the coolest details about the Frost brothers' mobile suits.
The Virsago was capable of independent flight, but it could also ride on top of the Gundam Ashtaron in Mobile Armor mode. That gave the Frost brothers a fast way to travel across the battlefield while conserving propellant.
Both the Virsago and Ashtaron were developed from the GB-9700 Gundam Belphagor and did not use the Flash System.
